* US: Stock prices and bond prices are falling

Volatility trading may be interesting, but general investors should hide in a shelter and wait for the storm to pass.

Funds are also flowing out of the bond market. Government bond yields are soaring due to inflation concerns. 2-year bonds at 4% seem like a good level to buy. The curve will steepen going forward, so I won’t be touching long-term bonds.

* Japan: Ex-dividend date is March 30th

The ex-dividend date for companies with a March fiscal year end is March 30th. The number of companies (TOPIX constituent stocks) with a PBR below 1 is 574, an increase from 458 stocks on February 27th.

The structural reform of Japanese stock prices will continue, so this is an opportunity to buy value, high-dividend, and growth stocks cheaply.

Defense-related stocks are strong, but they are overvalued, so be careful.

* Emerging Markets: Wait and See

Funds are flowing out of emerging markets as well.

* Commodities: Gold is down sharply

Are investors selling gold to cover margin calls?

* India: Declining

The currency is depreciating due to the worsening trade balance. Foreign investors are net sellers.
