The live performance went smoothly. The main drummer played the drums while seated in a wheelchair.

He was scheduled to play the piano this time, but will perform it at the next stage.

US Stocks: SOX Index Soars, Led by Intel

The stock market seems to have already factored in the Iran war. The stock market’s attention has shifted to corporate earnings.

The S&P 500, NASDAQ index, and SOX index all reached new all-time highs. Intel’s stock price surged on strong earnings forecasts, reaching an all-time high.

This week, the semiconductor index, the SOX index, surpassed the 10,000-point mark. The weekly increase was 10.02%, significantly outperforming the NASDAQ’s 1.5% and the S&P 500’s 0.55%. The top gainers were ARM at 40.83%, AMD at 24.94%, and Intel at 20.50%. Intel’s stock price rose 23.6% in just one day on Friday, making its stock price a point of interest for the coming weeks.

Intel’s challenge lies in its low gross profit margin of 39.38% compared to ARM’s 97.5% and AND’s 54.30%. The challenge going forward is to increase gross profit and achieve net profitability. It all depends on whether they can gain price competitiveness.

〇Japanese Stocks: The Distorted Nikkei Average

The Nikkei average reached 60,000 yen, but your own investments didn’t rise. Why?

Wasn’t this your week? This is because the Nikkei average is calculated using a simple average, and companies like Advantest, SoftBank, Tokyo Electron, and F Retailing have a significant impact on the index.

This week, the rises of Advantest and SoftBank pushed the index up.

On Friday, the Nikkei average rose 575.95 yen, but Advantest alone boosted it by approximately 371 yen. The index calculation method is far too distorted. Because it’s an easy-to-manage index, hedge fund capital can easily profit using options and futures.

For individual investors, long-term investment in high-performing stocks with a PBR below 1 is a good strategy. Funds have been flowing into value stocks since Thursday.

〇 Komatsu

Caterpillar has reached a new all-time high. The Caterpillar-Komatsu ratio (market capitalization ratio) has expanded to 9.5 times. On the other hand, the Sandvik-Komatsu ratio has shrunk to 1.3 times. Caterpillar’s sales are 2.8 times Komatsu’s. Sandvik’s sales are half of Komatsu’s. It remains to be seen when this distorted stock price will be resolved.

〇 India; Stock market sluggish, including IPOs

Foreign capital is flowing out of the Indian stock market. The focus is on the 2036 Summer Olympics. The host country decision is still a long way off, in the summer of 2029.

Cricket, which could be considered India’s national sport, was included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, so there is reason for optimism. If approved, infrastructure will be rapidly developed, and economic growth will accelerate even further. Therefore, regular contributions are the best way to invest in India. Currency appreciation can also be expected.

〇Commodity Markets: Wheat, Corn

Wheat and corn rose 2-3% compared to the previous week. Japan is a food importing country. If food prices rise in addition to oil, the risk of inflation increases. This is precisely the time for the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates.
